in todays market. They are installed BELOW  the existing deck joist.

Installed from ABOVE the deck on existing or new constructed Decks. The water catching systems are installed
between the joist rather than below the joist as our Aluminum Panel Systems are. Being Installed with Aluminum Pans between the deck joist gives you the option to design the underside of your deck with several types of Tongue and Groove Woods, such as Yellow Pine, Cedar, Cypress etc. 

This system covers the entire deck structure from getting wet. (Joist and bands of the entire covered system.)
